“Do you have pride?”
“No, I don't. During the off-meditation periods, I do not have any experiences except loneliness.”
-"The Practice of Dzogchen" by Longchen Rabjam
“I have a strange sense of inhabiting a reality in which I do not quite seem to fit. I suspect that I keep getting tangled up in things not because I fail to see them but because I imagine myself configured other than I am. I think of myself as a round peg trying to fit into a round hole, while unaware that I have become a square peg.”
-"Buddhism Without Beliefs, by Stephen Batchelor
lyrics
the rain poured down that day, heavier than weeks before
each drop dripping down those brick walls that sheltered cobwebs and broken glass
this place was somewhere we’ve never been before; too busy daydreaming to realize we were lost
but at some point during our travel, we drifted from the path of trees
we lit a fire there and exchanged stories of our past lives
singing sadistic love songs around the flames and hoping that when the fire turned to embers
our history would fade away…but it never really did, did it?
because the cold has a way of entangling those who dangle out in the open
and if you don’t stay close to the fire you’ll never stay warm
but I was always the one to love the cold
